i have grown to love reading, getting lost in stories that take me somewhere else, learning from authors, and relating to characters and instances is what has incited me the most. while in itlay i stumbled across this small used book store that had an abundance of books, maps, and journals from 3 euros to 53 euros varying in multiple different languages. upon entering this quaint treasure i had found, i was in awe of the history, character, good smelling books, and total lack of organization the store contained. it was as if i had set out on a treasure hunt in search of the most unique of jems. this was not only a place where i could escape the city and delve into the copious amounts of books tuning page after page, i was also forced to use my italian. the gentle old man that owned the store did not speak a hint of english. it was an experience i loved partaking in.
as long as we are on the topic of books i have read several books this past semester that have had a significant impact on my outlook on life:
- crazy love by francis chan
- blue like jazz by donald miller
- traveling mercies by anne lamott
- a million miles in a thousand years by donald miller
from recommendations of good friends, here are some of the books i would like to read this summer:
- forgotten god by francis chan
- 19 minutes by jodi picoult
- velvet elvis by rob bell
- searching for god know's what by donald miller
- perfect match by jodi picoult
